The Mental Arts Tidbit for the Day
Current Musing
2020 was a time of major shift. In particular, COURAGE was a dominant theme for me.
Creativity, standing up for what’s right, and letting go of control are all very scary things. But I sought to persist in spite of them.
Most of my time and energy in 2020 was spent:
Trying to decide if I should leave my old jiu jitsu school for a new one
Being stressed when I couldn’t speak up
Trying to survive a pandemic
I wish that I had made more time for inner stillness and reflections, because it would have helped me feel emotions and accept them for what they are.
Still, not all bad. I had some good moments of learning and growth:
I started to challenge myself more in lifting and jiu jitsu. I learned the value of embracing the struggle and being OK when things were hard.
During the lockdown, when I was furloughed from my job for 2 months, I learned that I’m resilient and able to make the best of a bad situation.
In starting therapy again, I learned that you can get help from others to feel better for yourself.
These moments are leading to even bigger instances of learning and growth in 2021:
Learning how to set and keep boundaries
Being more comfortable coming into a space as I am, not how I feel I should be
Feeling my emotions, instead of pushing them aside
