The Mental Arts Tidbit for February 17
The Mental Arts Tidbit for the Day
Current Musing
I often find that writing things down helps me make them more real. Whether it’s something I need to get done or a random thought from a daydream, writing it down helps make things more concrete. In jiu jitsu, I recently purchased a journal for only my training notes.
I use the journal to record:
My intentions for training for the day
Any interesting things that stood out to me
Concepts noted in instructionals or videos
I don’t use my journal to write out techniques step-by-step. I find that mat time is more effective for encoding that information into my brain. But in writing out things that are more of the “mind” stuff — the ideas that kick around in your head and could be lost — allows me to see accumulated wisdom over time.
